Treatments
Botox
Botox is a purified form of the bacterial substance botulinum, which has been used since the ‘80s to block nerve signals and relax facial muscles. It treats deep forehead wrinkles (worry lines), furrows between the eyebrows (frown lines), and starbursts at the corner of your eyes (crows feet).
Our physicians are experts who inject the minimal amount of Botox necessary, which ensures that the treatment is highly localized and your expressions remain natural. Botox can also be used to halt hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, in your palms, armpits, or elsewhere. It stops the sweating by blocking nerves that send the “sweat now” signal to your brain.
Who is it for?
Botox is for almost anyone, ages 18-65. With regular treatments, it actually prevents wrinkling in younger patients. For older patients, it smooths and relaxes wrinkles and prevents the deepening of wrinkles that already exist. Botox is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or those with bleeding disorders and muscle or nerve disorders.
What is treatment like?
Botox is injected by tiny needles, so pain is minimal. The entire process only takes about 10-20 minutes. You may have temporary swelling, redness, or minor bruising, but there’s no downtime. It’s helpful to stop taking anti-inflammatories such as fish oil, Advil, and aspirin a week before treatment to minimize bruising. Avoid drinking alcohol 48 hours before your treatment.
What are the results?
It takes up to two weeks to see results, but when you do, you’ll notice greatly reduced or vanished wrinkles. The effects of your treatment may last up to four months. With repeated use, the treated muscles may weaken, which means wrinkles may be permanently lessened and treatments will be required less often.

When combined with other skin rejuvenation methods offered by Mayoral Dermatology such as Sculptra or Dermasweep, neck and upper chest skin presenting sagging and wrinkling problems can be restored to youthfully smooth, taut skin.
I am Hispanic and have darker skin. Is INFINI™ safe to use on my skin?
INFINI™’s cutting-edge microneedling technology makes it safe to use on all skin types. Because it delivers RF energy to the dermis rather than the top layer of the skin, the chance that darker skin will be affected by areas of hyperpigmentation is greatly minimized. This makes it ideal for African-American, Hispanic and Asian patients who are not considered good candidates for laser or less advanced RF treatment methods.
How many treatments will I need to improve my skin condition?
Typically, patients electing to undergo INFINI™ treatments can safely receive one treatment every four weeks until desired results are achieved.
Is microneedling painful?
Not at all! Your Mayoral Dermatology specialist will apply a numbing agent to the area to be treated so that you will not experience anything but a very mild stinging sensation as RF energy is pulsed into your dermis.
What can I expect after treatment?
Recovery following an INFINI™ treatment session involves no downtime. You will be able to resume your normal schedule while experiencing only mild redness of the skin and a slim chance of bruising. How does JUVEDERM® work ?
A loss of hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin due to aging and environmental factors plays a large role in the formation of wrinkles. Aging also leads to a reduction in subcutaneous facial fat, causing hollows to develop and tissue to sag. Another issue is that bone reabsorption occurs as we age, particularly in the mid-facial region, resulting in a thinned-out or tired appearance.
JUVEDERM® is injected directly into the skin, restoring hyaluronic acid and providing physical volume to take the place of missing collagen, bone, and fat. What is a JUVEDERM® session like ?
Once we determine that JUVEDERM® is the right solution for you, we can then schedule your first treatment. This will include instruction for you to follow prior to your treatment, such as avoiding blood thinners like alcohol and aspirin. When you come in during your treatment day, your Forefront Dermatologist will prep the area using an alcohol wipe. A topical anesthetic may be used at this time, but isn’t always necessary as the filler contains lidocaine. Your provider will then make a series of strategic injections with a fine gauge needle while molding the filler with their fingers for best results.
What Results Can Be Expected from JUVEDERM® ?
You will probably see some results from the treatment right away. Folds, lines, and wrinkles are eliminated, and increased volume and elasticity can be visible right away. Keep in mind that it can take two weeks for any minimal redness and swelling to completely dissipate. Follow up treatments are recommended to maintain a youthful complexion, with intervals depending on the type of dermal filler.
What is Kybella?
Kybella (deoxycholic acid) injection is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment that is used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin”.
How does Kybella work?
The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.

Will I experience any side effects?
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. Kybella can cause serious side effects, including trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can cause facial muscle weakness.
How many treatments will I need?
During a Kybella consultation, we will customize your Kybella treatment plan, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. Many patients experience visible results in 2-4 treatment sessions. Up to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
How long will the results last?
When injected into the fat under your chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After the desired results are achieved, retreatment with Kybella should not be needed.

DON’T I NEED SWEAT GLANDS?
While your body does need sweat glands to cool itself, your body has 2-4 million sweat glands – only about 2% are found in your underarms. Eliminating this 2% of sweat glands does not affect your body’s ability to cool itself. With miraDry, you will experience the many benefits of reducing sweat in the underarm area, but you will continue to sweat in other areas of your body.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
miraDry uses thermal energy to create heat in the area where bothersome sweat and odor glands, as well as hair follicles reside and safely eliminates them.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
You can expect immediate and lasting results. Once the miraDry treatment eliminates the sweat and odor glands, they’re gone for good.
